I was fortunate to be born in Invercargill, then raised and educated in the majestic South of New Zealand. My first full-time job was in insurance, a role that enabled me to travel across Southland, providing advice and protection to individuals, businesses, and farmers alike.

While I am proud to call Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty my home for the past 15 years, I will always be honored to have an eternal link to the South of New Zealand. From Invercargill, my roles have taken me to Whanganui, Auckland, and London, before returning to New Zealand and deciding to settle in Tauranga. Every location and role I've held has provided valuable learnings in financial services and life in general.

I am married to a wonderful lady with whom I have two brilliant children in their mid-twenties. Both live in Melbourne, chasing their dreams and making the most of life. When not helping people with their financial protection, I spend my time with my family, either in person or through video chats. I also enjoy playing social soccer and getting out for walks or bike rides.

Financial services have been the centre of my working life, providing advice and support to help people financially protect what is important to them. My experiences in these roles came to the fore when my wife developed a brain tumor and, following surgery to remove it, suffered a stroke at the young age of 48. We were fortunate to be in a financial position, together with the financial assistance of lump-sum and ongoing claims payment support, which enabled me to step away from my corporate career and focus on my wife’s needs.

Five years on from her stroke, my wife is now stable enough to enable me to return to work and re-engage with our adjusted long-term financial plans. Having always worked for someone else, we decided that working for myself offered the opportunity and flexibility to balance the new needs in our lives. This is when I met Paul, and a symbiotic pairing of ideas, skills, and a desire to provide the best financial services and information for clients merged to create Know How Financial.
